Also known as “The Wood River Basin”
The Upper Klamath Basin lies just below Crater Lake National Park and sits east of the Sky Lakes Wilderness Area located in the Cascade Mountain Range. The main water tributary running through the basin is The Klamath River which is connected to numerous water bodies including Upper Klamath Lake, Agency Lake, The Williamson River, Sprague River. & The Wood River. This area is a diverse ecosystem consisting of, abundant waterways, wetlands, forests, meadows, grasslands and high desert terrain where mountains predominate. Summers are mostly warm, dry and clear with temperatures being between the 70 – 90 degree range during the day. Elevation is 4,2017′.
A-Frame Cabins
There are four A-frame cabins. Three can accommodate up to four people. There is a queen bed downstairs and two twin beds in the loft. The fourth cabin is for up to two people and has a queen bed. All cabins are non-smoking.

There are four standard rooms. All beds are queen-sized. Two of the rooms can accommodate up to two guests and the other two rooms can accommodate up to four guests. All of the standard rooms are non-smoking.

Suites
There are four suites with dining areas. Three suites can accommodate up to two people, and the fourth accommodates up to four people. All have queen beds, sofas, table, chairs, microwave and refrigerator.

The Wagon House
The Wagon House is 1000 sq. ft. with two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and living room with picnic table, pool table and couch. Guests enjoy a private bar-b-que grill and private parking. Non-smoking with no min. night stay.

Advanced Payment
Upon making a reservation, a deposit equal to one night, plus tax, is charged. Any balance due for a multiple-night stay, pet fees, etc. are required upon check-in. No Personal or Business Checks Accepted – We Accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express cards and traveler’s checks. Cash is accepted with ID and valid credit card number
Pets
The Aspen Inn is very dog friendly. There is a non-refundable $20/dog pet fee. See the Aspen Inn’s Dog Rules web page under our Rates and Policies section. The Aspen Inn is “dog-friendly” and requires that all pets be declared upon check-in. There is a $20/dog pet fee, due upon check-in. Undeclared pets will result in an automatic $50 charge. Other
This property is privately owned and management reserves the right to refuse service to anyone. We are not responsible for accidents or injury to guests, or for loss of money, jewelry or valuables of any kind.
Checkin & Checkout
Hours for check-in begin at 4:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m. There is no check-in after 10:00 p.m. Check-out is no later than 10:00 a.m. Guests leaving after 10 a.m. are charged for another day.
Reservations
Reservations are held only with a valid credit card number and expiration date.
Cancellations
A two-week notice of cancellation or change (shorten reservation by one day, etc.), prior to arrival, is required for refunds. For example: A reservation for Sept. 7th would require cancellation no later than 10:00 p.m. on Aug. 24th to avoid forfeiture of deposit. When two-weeks notice is received, deposits are refunded in full, less a $20 cancellation fee per room. Cancellations and changes made with less than two-weeks notice will result in a forfeiture of the full deposit. Additionally, if the reservation stay is shortened with less than 2 weeks notice, guests are responsible for the additional nights.
Smoking
All accommodations are non-smoking. No exceptions. Per Oregon statutes, smoking is prohibited within 10 feet of all public buildings, and discarding cigarettes on the ground is considered offensive littering. These statutes also apply to medical and recreational marijuana. Guests are welcome to smoke in areas away from accommodations and we ask that you respectfully dispose of cigarette butts safely and properly.

Playground
There is a large play area and swingset for children and a swinging bench for adults. There is plenty of open space for picnics and get togethers.

There is plenty of free parking available at the Aspen Inn on the Aspen Inn property for all guests.
Breakfast
We are not licensed to provide breakfast. However, we do offer complimentary hot beverages (coffee, tea, cocoa and cider) from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Air Conditioning/Heating
We now have air conditioning for each room! In summer, daytime temps can reach the mid-nineties. However, night-time temps will drop into the low fifties to low sixties. Each accommodation has, at least, a couple of fans, and good screens on the windows. Around here we enjoy cool nights, sleeping with the fans on and the windows open, listening to country sounds. As for heating…Each room has efficient electric heaters to keep you warm and toasty.
Cooking
Cooking is not allowed in any rooms EXCEPT by microwave. Cooking odors are difficult to remove. We have a nice gas BBQ grill with an additional burner for pot or pan. The grill is located on the cooking patio next to the office and is available until 10:00 p.m. Guests are responsible for a $150/night cleaning fee if management determines they have cooked in the room.
WiFi/Television
The Aspen Inn is in a very rural location with limited services. We do not have television, however, we do have free, reliable WI-FI, with an option to upgrade to an ultra-broadband service that allows for streaming.
Gas
Between late May and early October, regular gasoline is available in Crater Lake National Park at Mazama Village. Locally, the Crater Lake Junction Travel Center is open 24/7 and is just 14 miles southeast of the Aspen Inn.
Food
Depending on the time of the year you visit Crater Lake, there are from 1 to 3 options. In Fort Klamath (where we are located) there is a camper store and organic deli & grocery. In Chiloquin (12 miles southeast of the Aspen Inn) there are a few different restaurants and two local grocery stores.

Jackson F. Kimball State Recreation Site - 3.9 miles
J. F. Kimball State Park is a pristine site located at the headwaters of the Wood River. This stream flows from the pine forest into open meadow land laced with picturesque quaking aspen surrounded by the southern Cascade Mountains. Wood River offers fine fishing that can be accessed from the park by canoe. Kimball Park offers primitive camping next to a spring-fed lagoon at the beginning of this waterway.
Collier Logging Museum - 15.0 miles
Collier Memorial State Park features a campground, outdoor museum of historic logging equipment, relocated pioneer village and a new four-corral, primitive horse camp and trailhead. At the state’s finest logging museum, you’ll see rare and antique logging equipment dating to the 1880s, as well as more recent pieces.
The Williamson River and crystal-clear Spring Creek converge in the park. The river is regionally famous for its quality trout fishery that consistently produces trophy fish. Spring Creek gushes dramatically out of a nearby spring, painting a picture-perfect scene as it flows through the park.
Crater Lake ZipLine - 24.0 miles

Fort Klamath Museum - 1.3 miles
The eight-acre museum and park includes the parade grounds from a 19th century frontier military post. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Monday, Memorial Day through September. Admission by donation.
Klamath Fish Hatchery - 5.1 miles
The Klamath Fish Hatchery was constructed in 1929. The hatchery produces legal and trophy sized rainbow trout, fingerling rainbow trout, brown trout, and cutthroat trout for release throughout the Klamath Basin, Deschutes Basin, Umpqua Basin and the southeast part of the state.
Best time to visit: May – October. Fish eggs and fry are incubated October – July; Visiting hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. daily

The Wood River Wetlands - 9.7 miles
Immerse yourself in the sounds of migratory birds and waterfowl in the Wood River Wetland on the north side of Agency Lake. A half-mile non-motorized accessible trail leads to expansive views of surrounding mountains, waterfowl viewing, and some of the best trout fishing in the Klamath Basin.
Facilities include paved parking, a trail, a canoe launch, picnic areas and benches, toilets, and interpretive signs. The Wood River Wetland is open year-round for day use.
The 3,200-acre wetland is part of the historic delta of the Wood River adjacent to Agency Lake, and it includes three miles of public access to the river banks of the Wood River itself. Since acquiring the property in 1994, the Bureau of Land Management has focused primarily on wetland and river channel restoration. Water in the 3,200-acre wetland is manipulated to enhance the habitat for wetland plants and processes, while improving water quality for fish and wildlife in Wood River.
Crater Lake National Park - 6.6 miles
Crater Lake inspires awe. Native Americans witnessed its formation 7,700 years ago, when a violent eruption triggered the collapse of a tall peak. Scientists marvel at its purity—fed by rain and snow, it’s the deepest lake in the USA and one of the most pristine on Earth. Artists, photographers, and sightseers gaze in wonder at its blue water and stunning setting atop the Cascade Mountain Range.
